Importance Of Mulching
When you have planted a tree at your home it is very important to mulch it so that the tree can get the many benefit that mulching has.
With mulching the newly grown tree gets to be safe from harsh temperature that might destroy it because mulching prevents the hot sun and winds from penetrating the soil of which at the end it conserves the coolness and the moisture of the soil so the tree cannot be affected by any harsh temperature. The thick layer of mulch when applied to a young tree that is still growing does protect the soil from erosion that may be caused by heavy rain or harsh winds this is because the layer of the mulch is very strong that it cannot be carried away by heavy rains water or wind so the soil that the tree is on cannot have erosion.
The soil’s fertility is improved when mulching is done to a tree especially when it rails the rain tends to carry the minerals and plant nutrients that the materials which are made on the mulch contains then when it reach the soil it’s structure is improves and the plants nutrients improves the soil fertility too. When farmers apply mulching to their farm before weeds start growing in them they will save their selves a lot of time since the weeds will be few so they will use less time to remove them and the need for cultivation will be reduced because mulching makes the soil to be loose always.
Mulching reduces fungal and rot diseases that may be caused when the soil comes in contact with the fruit and leaves of the plant especially if you mulch tomatoes or melons that are usually prone to fungal diseases. Mulching helps in keeping weeds out from the plant hence preventing root competition of which it will it enables the plant to get all the nutrients it might needed to grow as fast as possible and it will grow being healthy and strong.
When you mulch your garden or the plants that you have planted you will be protecting the soil from evaporation because mulching reduces water use in the soil to around 75% which makes no evaporation to occur in the soil so the soil will not be damaged plus the plant. The plants that you mulch will definitely grow fast even without you noticing because mulching encourages the worms that aerate the soil thus providing the soil with more fertiliser in form of warm casting which makes the soil to be healthy and also the soil because the fertiliser that will be in it is a natural fertiliser.
